Over 80 percent of the beaches in Uganda are located in Entebbe or situated along the road from Entebbe to Kampala. Both Ugandan residents and members of the expatriate community usually spend quality time with their families and friends at these beaches, particularly on weekends. The beaches become extremely busy on weekends, and many young people in Uganda can also be found there, engaging in various enjoyable activities such as hanging out, drinking, eating, and swimming. The following are some of the popular beaches in Uganda:
Sun, Sand, and Serenity: Coco Beach Entebbe
Explore Coco Beach in Entebbe for a relaxing day by Lake Victoria. Ideal for families and couples, enjoy sunbathing and water sports. Best during the dry season but popular year-round.
Serena Resort Beach
The beach is only accessed by the visitors in Lake Victoria Serena Resort and is located in the Kigo district with beautiful surroundings for a private boat cruise and also playing golf.
The beach is not safe for swimming due to the risk of Bilharzia but there is a swimming pool at the resort.
Spennah Beach
Is one of the favorite beaches for the locals since is the best place for parties. The place is always good for weddings, birthday parties, fashion shows, and music festivals and the weekenders always enhance the white sand of the beach the beach is blessed with snacks and more especially the tasty chicken from the kitchen so making it one place to stop for your weekend.
Ssese Gateway Beach
It is possible to get to all the beaches in Uganda by minibus-taxis and/or bodaboda-taxis with the exception of a few.
Another option is for visitors to organize a journey through their tour operators.
Imperial Resort Beach
The beach is near the Entebbe Golf Club and is one of the most well-known beaches in the region.
The resort has swimming pools that are suitable for both children and adults; the beach features a big space with white sand; weekenders have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities such as playing beach volleyball, sunbathing and walking along the beach; guests may stay in one of the well-furnished rooms at Imperial Resort.
One Love Beach
The beach belongs to the well-known Ugandan musician Bobi Wine, who is also referred to as the Ghetto President.
If you have a passion for music and dancing, then you should go to One Love Beach; it is in Busabala, along the shores of Lake Victoria in Kampala.
Lido Beach
Lido Beach is one of the oldest beaches in Entebbe and is situated approximately 1 kilometer from Entebbe International Airport as well as just 2.5 kilometers from Kitoro.
The beach has white sand and is ideal for playing volleyball, and boat trips are available for a charge. Meals can be arranged, with the lowest price being 7000 Ush.
Getting There
Take a minibus-taxi from Old Taxi Park or an Orange bus in Kampala and go to Entebbe.
Alight at Entebbe-Kitoro, and then catch a bodaboda which costs one way between Ush2,000 and Ush3,000.
Lutembe Beach
The beach comes after Kajjansi and has a swimming pool for people who prefer to swim in it.
Nabugabo Sand Beach
Lake Nabugabo lies 20 kilometres to the east of Masaka.
The Nabugabo Sand Beach is formed by this lake and the lake is located about 5 kilometres from a good dirt road which goes from Nyendo. The section of the road from Masaka is in good condition, but the 5 kilometres after it branches off is not.
Nabinyonya Resort Beach
It is a peaceful beach situated on the lake shore and offers a good view of the still-existing forest, which houses red-tailed monkeys and a great deal of bird life.
During the weekends there are more people about and it is quiet and peaceful on weekdays.
Aero Beach
The beach lies on the route to the airport, after passing Imperial Bonatical and Resort beaches.
Ssese Islands
There are some of the finest sandy beaches on Lake Victoria in these islands.
Bulago
The island lies 20 kilometres to the east of Entebbe and has some of the most beautiful beaches in Uganda.
